Private commission

I first met Ken when he chanced upon our flamenco dance class, I remember him watching intently, and with our permission taking photos which were then turned into beautiful watercolours.

Ken has an easygoing friendly approach with people, allowing us to feel relaxed and natural during the class whilst he took photos, and so managed to capture both the beauty and passion of flamenco, I was extremely captivated by his work. I asked if he took commissions, as my son and daughter in law had just had my first grandchild, and I was looking for a unique way to celebrate and record this . I had so many photos it was difficult to choose, Ken was really great in helping and advising me on which photos to use to get the best results. Throughout this time Ken’s communication with me was good and my paintings were delivered personally by Ken exactly as arranged and in good time.

I was expecting something good, having seen some of his other work, but was not prepared for the stunning pieces I received. To be honest I just cried, they were so beautiful, capturing all the emotions felt for such a precious event . The only way I can describe it is that the love and joy in each painting simply flew off the canvas and hit you in the face !!!!

On a more practical note Ken also offered advice on how to frame the paintings to get the best results . My experience throughout was both professional and helpful, with a continued interest after receiving my paintings. I would most definitely recommend Ken’s work and will have no doubts about asking for more pictures in the future.

“When I commissioned Ken to produce an illustration that reflected our creative needs, I knew something original was on its way. He has a thoroughly engaging way with him that is both professional and friendly. What impressed me the most was how he kept us in-the-loop, quickly informing us of developments. When the brief was completed it exceeded our expectations and impressed the team. As a result we are enthusiastic in recommending Ken for any illustration work.”

We would like to express our appreciation for the excellent portrait of our retiring Director Michael Dunk. The likeness was first class and the facial expression was a most accurate reflection of his character. Thank you once again for the most satisfactory way this commission was carried out and in a very short period of time.

Designamite and Backroom Ltd

When I owned and run Designamite in Exeter I commissioned Ken on several occasions to provide watercolour illustrations for clients such as Tesco’s and Persimmon Homes. His distinctive painterly style, and eye for detail was particularly suitable for us at the time and his easy going nature made working with him a pleasure. He always exceeded my expectations and often went far beyond the brief in order to provide us with creative solutions for our work. Work was always delivered on time and on budget. As an individual with a bright and engaging personality he was always a pleasure to work with. I have no hesitation in recommending him to you.

We would like to say how much we appreciate the energy and time you spent in creating such a lovely work of art of our portraits. It brought our faces to life in a way that the photo doesnt. We will look at it everyday and treasure it.
